    Into the Pixel

One of my illustrations from “The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom” was selected for inclusion in this year’s Into The Pixel art show! What is that you ask: The 2010 Into the Pixel exhibit will feature twenty works of video game art, selected by a panel of jurors from a field of submissions gleaned from artists around the world. The exhibition offers an opportunity for published video and computer game artists to be reviewed and recognized by the public and by their peers in both the fine art and video game worlds.

    Crunch Time Baby!

I was recently asked to contribute work to the may issue of Game Developer Magazine for one of their articles on the dreaded topic of Crunch Time. I was working on another project for them (which I can’t talk about yet) and they had a pressing need for images for an article in production. I reached into my archives and found them some cool stuff to use.

    PB Concept Bottom

I wanted to wait till the The Misadventures of PB Winterbottom had been out a while before dropping my own postmortem style “making of” post. There is a good (occasionally updated) blog post over at IGN about the full story of the making of the game that you should check out. I think my part in the story is coming up next. But for your enjoyment this post will be about the concept phase of the title’s production, and show some selected concept art to boot.

From the Sketchbooks

March 28th, 2010 | Ink, sketches | Vincent | No Comments

I keep all my sketchbooks in a beat-up red suitcase. By all my Sketchbooks I mean there is stuff going back to my first years of art school ( I date the oldest one there at about 2001). I have books going back even farther in my underground chamber deep in the earth’s crust where they are safe from your hands and those of the mole-men. However nearly all the Sketchbooks I have made since the summer before my first year at art school are in my room in this piece of luggage. ( Photo by Victoria Vu)

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom

February 9th, 2010 | Winterbottom | Vincent | No Comments

UPDATE: The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom is out now! Get It! Watch the official trailer here! It is very surreal, The team at the Odd gents have been working towards this moment for so long and now it is going to actually happen next week. The news and articles have begun in earnest starting to report on the release. Some people have been asking me how I got hooked up with such an awesome gig. The short answer is that I sold my soul to a strange man at “the crossroads” but that still doesn’t explain it all.

Disney Planet Challenge

February 7th, 2010 | Design and Illustration | Vincent | 2 Comments

Working at Midnight Oil Creative has given me some really cool opportunities to bring my illustration skills to projects that wouldn’t normally seek them out. Disney Planet Challenge was one such project that came up and I jumped at the change to pitch a fully illustrated website. Check out the final product here.

iPhone Wallpaper Downloads

February 1st, 2010 | Downloads | Vincent | 1 Comment

I have an iPhone, and I wanted some of my imagery to fill up my phone’s wallpaper. Mainly because I am a narcissist, but secondly because I couldn’t resist having a screaming T-Rex greeting me every time I tried to unlock my phone. So it got me thinking other people may want them too…besides my girlfriend and mom of course.

On Sunday I went to the Drawing Club’s once a month Sunday long pose session.   I have been going to their Thursday night gatherings on and off for a little while now.  Bob Kato , who hosts the thing, does a really nice job of setting a good mood, as each session has a specific [...]

New Painting (a study in subtlty)

September 21st, 2008 | Uncategorized | Vincent | 2 Comments

In case you hadn’t noticed I have a new main page image.  The last image I had posted there of myself, although dear to me, was done more years ago than I care to divulge.   So I thought I would make a painting specifically for my own website, which I have never really done before.   [...]

Trying to get emotional

June 27th, 2008 | sketches | Vincent | 1 Comment

Here is the sketch for the recently added painting: The Claw
As the title suggests I am trying to play with the different displays of emotion . I really wanted to convey the horror in the monster’s face and the unbridled joy in the girls. I am having a lot of fun with this [...]
